I’m Rachel, a mother, teacher, birth enthusiast and fully trained KG Hypnobirthing teacher.
In 2015 when I was pregnant with my son, a midwife friend of mine recommended hypnobirthing to me. She had witnessed first hand the profound effect it had had on the births of many women. When I started reading about hypnobirthing the words ‘calm’ and ‘birth’ kept appearing together, and it all seemed too good to be true. But the more I read, the more I realised there must be something to it. I read story after story of positive birth and little by little my attitude towards the whole process was changing.
That’s when I booked myself onto a course, thinking that I had nothing to lose. A few months later, with 4 classes behind me and lots of practice, I was patiently awaiting the arrival of my son.
17 days after his ‘due date’, I gave birth to the beautiful Luca in the birthing pool at Airedale hospital. His birth was the most empowering and incredible experience of my life, and I finally realised that all the classes and practice had paid off. We all have the innate ability to birth calmly, confidently and fearlessly if we learn how to understand our birthing bodies and what they were designed to do.
As a teacher by trade (I teach English as a Foreign Language and Spanish), I have always been passionate about spreading knowledge, and I realised becoming a hypnobirthing teacher would be the perfect next step.
